Other very important reasons are:

  • Especially if you are buying gems or jewellery through the internet
  • For the liquidation of assets
  • Divorce settlement
  • When there is a Tax investigation of an estate
  • Before the distribution of an estate

Appraisal Method

  • Jewellery will be weighed, measured, described in detail, and
    photographed.
  • Diamonds and gemstones will be fully identified, graded, and
    measured for weight determinations.
  • Diamonds of 1/4 carat and larger will have their internal
    characteristics diagramed.
  • The karat content of precious metal will be determined.
  • The value will be estimated based on the purpose of the appraisal.

  • Make sure your jewellery is clean.
  • Make sure all repairs are done before handing over to be appraised.
  • Call to make an appointment.
  • Allow enough time in your personal schedule for the appraisal to
be done properly - one to two days depending on type of jewellery.
  • Bring important documentation along, such as sales receipts,
grading certificates from other laboratories, warranties, and
    previous appraisal documents, where applicable.
